The big news is that I'm taking a European vacation.  That's right, I'm going on a european holiday baby.  I'm actually leaving very soon, on May 17, so its coming up pretty fast.  I'm going to London, Paris and Stockholm.  I am preparing for my trip by watching European Vacation 100 times and jotting down pointers, so with all that background knowledge I should get along swimmingly.

The whole point of this trip is that I am going to Europe to try and lose my virginity and maybe score some of that primo amsterdam weed.  But seriously, I am going because I would like to visit those intriguing places I saw in the not hilarious summer teen comedy Eurotrip.  I think Saving Private Ryan was a funnier film set in Europe.

Not to mention I am looking forward to counting the number of times I try to make myself easier for non english speakers to understand by speaking louder slower english.  I bet I do it at least 3 times a day.

Anyway, I'm taking this trip and I have some thoughts about traveling.  I don't trust travelers.  I know lots of people have this romanticized concept of travelers as bold and curious, seeking wisdom and personal growth.  I don't buy that shit for one second.  Many travelers strike me as shifty hippie mooches.  It seems that they are seeking unique new experiences, but I have seen Wild On and all I see are a bunch of drifters and sleazeballs dancing to third tier club music and trying to get laid.  I suspect any life experience they may extract from that is somewhat accidental.

I suppose that is a pretty sweeping generalization.  It is really only true of traveling to Ibeza, the West Indies, Southeast Asia and most of the coastal United States.  And to be honest it's pretty much what I do at home.  But I think I lost my point.

So anyway what does this trip mean?  To save enough money for this trip I have had to work like practically almost full time.  I have been working over 30 hours a week!  Unbeliezable!  Which is why there has been so little new writing.  But on the plus side it is possible I will come back from my trip with at least one funny story about the French.  Slightly more possible is that I come back with several unfunny stories about the French.  I guess it will be un bon surprise.
